LD 1957 - An Act to Restore Diadromous Fish in the St. Croix River
This Bill (LD 1957) was originally assigned only to the Legislature's Marine Resources Committee even though it would significantly impact the Department of inland Fisheries & Wildlife (IF&W) as well as the outstanding bass and salmon fishery in the inland waters of Washington County.
It is critical that both legislative committees (Fish & Wildlife and Marine Resources) work on this bill together.
Tomorrow morning (Thursday, Feb 28), there will be a vote in the House on a "joint order" (House Paper 1601) presented by Representative Jackson that LD 1957 ("An Act To Restore Diadromous Fish in the St. Croix River") be recalled from the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources and brought to the House.
If enacted, this joint order will open the door for LD 1957 to be re-assigned jointly to the Marine Resource Committee and the Fish and Wildlife Committee - as it should be.
If this joint order is voted down, the Legislative Fish and Wildlife Committee will have no influence over the outcome of this bill that could be devastating to fishing guides in the St. Croix region.
Please ask your State Representative to vote "yes" on this joint order.
Your support for the F&W Committee is extremely important.
