Banquet Auction Donations: You can be a big help with MPGA's fundraising efforts by donating an Auction Item or by asking others to donate. All donated items are welcomed for the auction - whether you plan to attend or not. Contact Jeff Bellmore by email (grtrips@adelphia.net) or by phone (273-3818) if you have an item to bring or donate so he can get the auction organized ahead of time. Auction proceeds are a vital part of our fundraising efforts. Newsletters, meetings, and our work in Augusta are all very expensive. Our annual budget depends on the additional income brought in by the banquet and auction. New this year - Donations made to the "Maine Guides Education Fund" qualify as charitable donations and therefore may be deducted on tax returns. You can now contact many retailers, like Wal-Mart or Dick's Sporting Goods, who only give items for charity events. We have a color brochure about the Banquet that you can print and take with you. It has information about MPGA and the Maine Guides Education Fund, including tax Id numbers. Download the Annual Banquet Sponsor Brochure Very Important - Donations intended for the charitable tax deduction must be made by check payable to "Maine Guides Education Fund", and merchandise must be accompanied with a written statement of that intent and the merchandise's value. We have a Donation Form ready to help you with this. Download, print and use this Donation Form when you ask for donations. For more information, visit our website's Banquet Section. 3. Maine Conservation Camp Scholarships: Correction: Ages 10 to 14 may apply. MPGA is offering two $400.00 scholarships for Conservation Camp this year. Winners will be drawn at the Annual Banquet. This could be a full price scholarship! Youths age 10 to 14 may apply for a scholarship by submitting a short written essay stating why they want to attend the Conservation Camp. These must be written by the youths. The essays MUST arrive by Friday April 11. We will accept names at the Annual Banquet on April 12, provided they are accompanied by the youth's written essay (the youths do not need to be at our banquet in order to win). Winners will be drawn from applicants related to MPGA members. If there are not enough applicants, additional winners will be drawn from non-related students who have taken the initiative to send us written requests throughout the year. Full Price Scholarships available this year - Winners may choose to go to Conservation Camp at Bryant Pond (full cost is $575.00) or to the Greenland Point Center in Princeton (full cost is $400.00). Most scholarships are for only $200.00. Do not miss this opportunity to receive a $400.00 scholarship from MPGA and go to the camp of your choice. You don't even need to pay anything extra if you choose the Greenland Point Center! Mail the scholarship requests to: Jeff Bellmore Or give them to Jeff at the Annual Banquet. Visit the MPGA Website for more news and info. |
