Over the last year participation in every aspect of outdoor recreation has increased. Definitely a good thing. Many of these participants are completely new to the outdoors. Do not enjoy a long history outdoors or been introduced by someone who understands the way we do things as a conservation minded community.

The Maine Office of Outdoor Recreation and the Office of Tourism are working with other state agencies and groups like the Maine Professional Guides Association to begin to give these new users some of the critical background information.

That effort is anchored at the website Look Out for ME recreate responsibly.

While not aimed at guides this program is designed to help the new user get up to speed on how to act while enjoying the Maine outdoors.
Help spread the word. There is a downloadable Look Out for ME messaging toolkit containing assets that can be used in both your digital communications and physical spaces Go to Look out for ME scroll down the page to partner resources.
